111 Yilan County Promotes Low Carbon Sustainable Homes Implementation Project

Absrtact
The work of this project can be divided into four major areas of work: "maintaining a low-carbon sustainable home operation system," "counseling and implementation of low-carbon sustainable home action projects," "promoting green building cooling," and "promoting low-carbon actions based on local conditions. Maintaining the low-carbon sustainable home operation system, and continuing the greenhouse gas control implementation plan of Yilan County as the main task, we assisted in convening inter-bureau meetings and meetings of the Yilan County Government's Climate Change Promotion Subcommittee to consolidate the promotion strategies of each bureau and complete the the second phase of Yilan County's greenhouse gas control implementation plan. It is estimated that the cumulative carbon reduction in the second phase of the implementation plan can reach 1.35 million metric tons (including the first phase), accounting for 17.3% of the benchmark value of Yilan County and reaching the 10% target of the second phase. We have also assisted 11 villages in completing the application process for the certification system, resulting in an overall participation rate of 60%, and assisted 10 villages in completing on-site inspections to maintain the rating. In addition, we have assisted 15 villages/communities to implement low-carbon sustainability action projects, such as community carbon footprint inventory, rainwater recycling system, agricultural waste recycling, traditional lighting and air conditioner replacement, and green building cooling. The results of this project are 10,895 kWh of electricity, 341 tons of water, 159 tons of waste reduction, and 143.5 square meters of green space, which is equivalent to an annual reduction of 82,902.5 kg of CO2e. We have assisted 9 museums with on-site energy-saving and carbon-reduction diagnosis and improvement counseling, providing them with energy-saving and carbon-reduction diagnosis reports, and counseling on energy-saving and carbon-reduction diagnosis and renovation work, including traditional lights , old air conditioners and refrigerators, wall insulation, and regular management of drinking fountains. In total, the carbon reduction project will help the building save 43,132 kWh of electricity and $174,900 in electricity costs per year, which is equivalent to a reduction of 22,510 kg of CO2e. In addition, through the production of carbon reduction information displays for each building, we are able to demonstrate the overall carbon reduction effect and implement low carbon sustainability education.
